Temporary Flow Monitoring

Aqua-Tech was approached by one of the UK’s Water Utility businesses, who had a need to assess the temporary flow taking place at a large pumping station. They had no pre-existing flow measuring tools in-place, and yet were considering some future changes to the station so needed better insight as to the demand placed on this this specific area of the facility.

Challenge

Aqua-Tech regularly undertakes this type of activity, and so can prepare a project in advance and so we shared our planned approach with the client – and arrived with all the various tools, kit and permissions required.

Approach

We undertake temporary and permanent flow monitoring by utilising clamp-on flowmeters. And our work comprises of surveying the asset, on site telemetry, size of pipework – plus provision of detailed survey results and reports back to the client. In this case we utilised clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters using Senapsis RPF-400 portable (battery powered and 24vdc) and WM-400 wall mounted units (mains powered), verifying pipe thickness. Both were connected to the onsite telemetry for remote flow monitoring, back to the central control room. We also regularly do similar for Open Channel Flow as well.

We utilise non-invasive, non-corrosive and no-contact monitoring – so as not to damage or intervene with critical infrastructure. We can quickly and easily installed the required equipment, without any cutting or drilling, so we are set-up and running in around 5 minutes. This all enables us to undertake fast, accurate monitoring – and a robust report back to you whatever your specific requirements.
