Innovative search to allow someone home

We were approached by a large engineering contractor, who had recently been appointed on a major 10-year project in the highlands and Islands, specifically a regional engineer, to be based in Skye and work across the islands.

Challenge

Through Aqua-Tech’s long history of the sector, we know it would very unlikely to find someone with the suitable skill based in that geography. We also realised that despite the role being interesting and well-remunerated, we were going to struggle to find someone willing to up-routes and move to Skye on a permanent basis – especially with the travel demands of the role.

Through this promotion, the perfect Candidate got in touch with us. Not only were they perfectly qualified, but with a recent young-family they were very keen to move back to the islands. They were offered the role within weeks, and were soon back living on Skye enjoying a great new job!

Approach

We therefore reverse-engineered the entire recruitment search. We realised it would be much easier to find someone originally from the Islands, who might want to move back there!
