Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Project Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the design, development & implementation of electrical systems for water and wastewater projects, from conception through to construction phase.

Location: Edinburgh / Glasgow AND Bamber Bridge, Preston.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with knowledge to complete electrical design and project engineering deliverables
  • Assist with planning, programming, and sequencing of electrical works
  • Attend and contribute to internal and external project review and progress meetings
  • Participate in design/project coordination with other engineering disciplines and professionals
  • Perform electrical engineering calculations, including load calculations and power system analysis
  • Create electrical engineering drawings, including single-line diagrams, control schematics, and panel layouts
  • Support procurement of electrical equipment and materials
  • Review specifications and designs against industry standards and electrical codes
  • Provide Technical support during installation and commissioning.
  • Produce engineering reports and feasibility studies
  • Develop risk assessments and method statements and safe systems of works
  • Promote safe working practices and technical best practice on site
  • Proactively conduct site audits and safety inspections, promoting best practice in health & safety and driving corrective actions where required
  • Support or lead electrical testing and commissioning activities
  • Assist in producing Operation & Maintenance manuals, test certificates, and as-built documentation
  • Support client witnessing, snag resolution, and project close-out
  • Identify and manage technical risks, changes, and value engineering opportunities

Qualifications and Skills

  • Preferably an Electrical Engineering Degree / HND / HNC or equivalent in electrical engineering or related discipline
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience delivering electrical works on engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Working knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations)
  • Previous utility industry knowledge and experience is beneficial but not essential
  • Proven ability to work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet project deadlines
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Trimble)
  • Familiarity with water and wastewater treatment processes and electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of LV systems, control panels, instrumentation, or automation
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working under NEC or similar contracts
