Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at [Company Name], a leading mechanical fabrication company specializing in custom solutions across various industries. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing innovative mechanical systems and components. The ideal candidate will have strong design skills, knowledge of fabrication processes, and experience with CAD software, enabling them to create efficient, high-quality designs that meet client specifications and industry standards. ---

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Design & Development: Design mechanical components and systems from concept through to detailed design, creating functional, efficient, and manufacturable solutions aligned with project requirements. 3D Modeling & Drafting: Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor) to create detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and layouts, ensuring precision and adherence to industry standards. Material & Component Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate materials, components, and fabrication techniques to optimize performance, cost, and durability of designs.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Oversee the creation of prototypes, coordinate testing, and analyze performance to identify improvements and ensure the reliability and safety of designs. Manufacturing Support: Collaborate closely with fabrication and production teams, providing technical support and guidance to ensure designs are accurately interpreted and executed on the shop floor.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all designs meet quality standards, project specifications, and industry regulations, including compliance with safety and environmental standards. Documentation & Reporting: Prepare detailed design documentation, specifications, and reports for internal records, project stakeholders, and clients, maintaining organized and accurate records.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in design reviews and process improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance product design, reduce costs, and increase manufacturing efficiency.

Skills & Experience Required:

Technical Knowledge: Strong proficiency in mechanical design principles, fabrication processes, and material properties. Expertise in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor) and familiarity with FEA/CAE analysis tools. Understanding of manufacturing processes, including welding, machining, and assembly.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Relevant certifications or training in CAD/CAE software are a plus. Experience: 3+ years of experience in mechanical design within a fabrication or manufacturing environment. Experience working with custom designs, prototyping, and collaborating with production teams. Skills: Strong analytical skills with an ability to perform engineering calculations and simulations. Exceptional attention to detail, with a focus on quality and accuracy. Effective time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
