Responsible for: The Technical Manager will be responsible for the specifications of UKWWS solutions, to ensure designs are laid out for solutions to enable them to be designed, manufactured, installed, and maintained, all in accordance with appropriate recognised standards i.e. Wimes etc. The sizing and recommendation of appropriate third-party equipment within the UKWWS solution offering. Including building appropriate design tools & guides for others. The Technical Manager will contribute to the continuous improvement in design of third-party equipment in line with UKWWS business needs, quality and value for money. Manage robust and effective compliance controls within the organisation (UKCA & CE Marking) – Training to be provided. The Technical Manager will undertake responsibilities of ATEX/ EX Authorised Person in line with BS EN 80079-34 – Training to be provided. Requirements: The Technical Manager must have a Drivers Licence and Passport. Able to carry out work tasks that involve physical strength, stamina, standing, kneeling or crouching. Competence & Qualifications: Minimum Degree level education in an Engineering discipline, or equivalent time served experience. Proven capability in the design and engineering of water industry related products. Competent in the use of design software namely, Auto Cad and Autodesk Inventor. Comprehensive knowledge of CE marking requirements for Water industry products and associated equipment. City & Guilds confined space entry training preferred. Key Duties: Provide the technical design authority to the business on solution designs covering the whole delivery process from Enquiry/Lead through to Post project review. Review, advise and approve/sign off technical designs which have been compiled by the Design Team ensuring that solutions are in line with customer specifications, safe and conform to internal design requirements. Lead the implementation of knowledge management around design within the projects, proposals, sales and design teams by leading a structured approach to manging solution information libraries and providing guidance and updates to the teams as required. Ensure a uniformed approach across the UKWWS business. Proactively engage with the wider industry to ensure that relevant technical developments are investigated, understood and implemented in a timely manner e.g. changes in legislation and industry best practice. Undertake site visits with Sales and operations teams to support correct application and installation of solutions, at a pre-order stage and throughout the project process as needed. Undertake site inspections and manufacturing inspections where the required level of Technical engineering expertise is required. Communication where directed with customer representatives on technical issues. To ensure work is completed on time, to quality and within agreed budgets. Support the management and control of product technical files, including CE marking where required, through formalising design changes and regular engagement with the product management team. Work alongside others in the wider European engineering team, to develop engineering improvement plans to drive product and service improvements. To perform duties in accordance with all relevant legislation in particular the Health and Safety at Work Act. To apply the requirements of the business quality, environmental, energy and safety assurance systems as appropriate within the areas of responsibility. This is a permanent role with a salary of £60,000 – £70,000 depending on experience. Safety : putting health, wellbeing and safety of people first People : engaging and empowering everyone to deliver and grow Delivery : helping deliver clients business needs Integrity : behaving respectfully and in a sustainable manner to the individual, communities and the environment, maintaining accountability and honesty in the way you work The Role The role of the MCC (Motor Control Centre) junior/graduate design engineer will be based in Cumbernauld (Scotland) and involves the following: • The Junior/Graduate Design Engineer will follow and carry out day to day tasks given from the supervisor/manager • The Junior/Graduate Design Engineer will be Interfacing with other departments (PM’s, C&A, telemetry, sales) to ensure all MCC solutions are delivered on time and budget • Interfacing with shopfloor (panel build supervisor/builders, procurement) to ensure lean build time and catch any issues through panel build phase • The Junior/Graduate Design Engineer will carry out project delivery milestones (producing/amending MCC drawing work packs which include GA, schematics, BOM’s etc) • The Junior/Graduate Design Engineer will collate project documentation (as built drawings, test reports, datasheets, calculations etc) to populate the technical construction file for CE marking • Continual Professional Development Requirements • Some knowledge of motor starter circuits (although training will be given) • Some knowledge PLC/control circuits (although training will be given) • Some knowledge of field instrumentation (flow/pressure/level/temperature) • Experience in using AutoCAD drawing package • Proficient in Microsoft applications (word, excel, teams, etc) Beneficial • AutoCAD Electrical • Knowledge of Siemens products (G120 VSD’s, S7-1200/1500 PLC’s, SIRUS range control equipment) • Knowledge of Profibus communication protocol This is a permanent role on £23,500 - £30,000 with scope for progression within the company.
