Aqua-Tech Recruitment are delighted to be working with a Renewable Energy Company based in Edinburgh who are looking for a Senior Control System Design Engineer to join their team. The client has designed and developed technology, based on proprietary IP, which improves power network capacity, manages bidirectional energy flows and which maintains a stable system for the integration of distributed energy resources. Based in Edinburgh with a global outlook, the client is built on a vision of making a significant impact on a sustainable energy future. Role The purpose Product Development function is to deliver the product portfolio that will enable the client to achieve its purpose. The Business’s position as a technology driven company with global ambitions means that the Senior Electrical System Engineer will be central to both developing and testing prototype products with the longer term aim of commercialisation of these products, working at up to 5 MVA power levels and 11 KV voltages. As the client will be working with globally acting partners, this will mean working with blue chip engineering companies. Areas of Responsibility The role has the following primary dimensions: Specification and design of high and low power electrical systems, including demand analysis and electrical system simulation. Prototype development, including wiring schematics, connection diagrams Prototype building with a focus on the high-power circuitry and components System commissioning, consisting of compiling test program and results for further assessment Managing the supply chain, the sourcing components, related procurement and prototyping Participation in technology and product roadmap formulation Skills and experience • The Senior Electrical System Engineer must have 10+ years’ electrical engineering experience • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required • The Senior Electrical System Engineer must have High voltage experience • Systems integration experience • Requirements capture and management • The Senior Electrical System Engineer must have knowledge of electrical wiring, printed circuits, EMC, bonding, insulation etc. • The Senior Electrical System Engineer must have knowledge of electrical network modelling and analysis Competencies • Proactive, self-organised, creative problem solver • Highly motivated • Can-do attitude • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Being confident at developing strong relationships both internally and externally. This role is for a 3 month short term contract based in Edinburgh. However, this could lead to long term work for the right candidate. The client is happy to consider either permanent or contract for the right candidate. Permanent will have a salary of £60-65k depending on experience (pro-rata).
