Aqua-Tech Recruitment are working with a Global Engineering company who specialise in the water industry who have an immediate requirement to fill the position of Hire Equipment Manager (screen & pump equipment) based in Nottingham . Overview of job: The Hire Equipment Manager will take full control of our hire fleet of inlet works equipment, update and control moving forward, all details of existing assets in our hire fleet, be involved in agreeing what new assets are required and drive growth and efficient delivery of all hire equipment projects nationwide. This role is responsible for the order intake financial targets and accurate financial forecasting/planning for the Company. Day to day the Hire Fleet Manager will scope, plan and deliver technical screening solutions providing full turnkey rental packages to our UK customer base. The applicant should also be able to self-generate business and be able to manage a client base whist providing senior support, training and sharing of knowledge with internal strategic teams to further develop and enhance our customers experience in line with the company’s core values. The operations team will deliver the equipment ready to hire and carry out transport and installation on the client’s sites, but the Hire Fleet Manager would have overall control of the fleet. A crucial part of the growth strategy for the business going forward the Hire Fleet Manager will be supported by the National Sales team, Technical Engineering, Design department, Ops Managers, Supply Chain, and the wider Operations team; culminating in UKWWS’s growth and success. Physical & Other Requirements: The Hire Equipment Manager must have a current valid driving license. Some traveling which may require overnight stays. The Hire Equipment Manager will participate in emergency cover rotation. Requires being on call for a week at a time including over a weekend or bank holiday every few months. The Hire Equipment Manager will be able to carry out work tasks that involve physical strength, stamina, standing, kneeling or crouching. Competency & Qualifications: Engineering qualified to Degree/HND or equivalent or qualified by experience. Strong experience working in the Equipment hire business, on a nationwide basis. Water industry/environmental experience preferred. Strong capable leader with dynamic and specialist experience from an engineering / manufacturing / fabrication / production sector; preferably having Wastewater experience. Proven history of working within pump hire or water/wastewater related hire industry. Good technical and solution management skills and able to manage all aspects of the workload. Excellent understanding of the design and workings of a temporary / permanent gravity / pumped inlet screening solution. A proven manager with management qualification or experience managing or working within a team for successful delivery of time critical proposals/bids. Sound knowledge and experience in making proposals for equipment hire to deliver the client’s expected requirements. Knowledge of Health & Safety issues in connection with construction. Knowledge of industry standard construction methods and associated risks. Confident in dealing with customers coupled with proven negotiating skills. Awareness of NEC3 & 4 Contract conditions and associated risks to the business. Awareness of CDM requirements for Principal contractor/designer and sub-contractor roles. Skills & Attributes Leadership skills. Self-driven/motivated with the ability to prioritise own workload and that of support team members. Work in a systematic and organised manner to complete work within set deadlines. Project planning and coordination. Competent IT skills with a focus on Microsoft Excel. Excellent business acumen. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail/complex issues. KPI Management. Commercial awareness. Key Duties: Generate orders to meet the budget and work with the financial team in monitoring and forecasting income. Manage and take responsibility for Hire fleet, including interaction with other departments, working in conjunction with the National Commercial Manager & Sales Director to drive growth in the hire fleet. Take control of the existing hire assets & update the systems accordingly for the assets we have. Plan the required investment into the Hire fleet to ensure we have the potential for growth. Achieve other financial targets and business objectives consistently. Understand company/competitive strategy and translate into actions/tactics to sell all hire products/services. Maintain accurate records of all sales activity and prepare regular forecasts to enable effective forward planning. Using a mix of good forward planning, monitoring of customer accounts and flexibility, maintain regular contact with customers to ensure that they are provided with all necessary support & information. Working with the proposals team or independently cost, prepare and submit quotations, following up after all hire quote submissions. Remain current on benefits of company products/services and advantages vs. competitor’s products/services. Deliver service excellence to external and internal customers. Ensure efficient and compliant handover to Operations and the business support teams of all successful orders. Carry out regular review meetings with colleagues and staff to foster a team mindset of positive feedback and continual improvement. Work with our processes and systems to accurately track financial performance successfully tendered hire projects, incorporating learnings into all future hire bids, in conjunction with operational delivery team members and managers. Encourage and develop relationships with all stakeholder groups. Closely work with the National Sales Team to promote and market innovative new approaches to client hire requirements. Be responsible for, have knowledge of and ensure compliance with all legal and Health and Safety requirements across the business to ensure a safe working environment. In conjunction with the Compliance Manager ensure that all Company policies and procedures for ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO50001, ISO45001 are implemented. This is a permanent role with a salary of £50,000 – £55,000 depending on experience.
